Hi all. I've installed Debian 4.0 on this system. I can't get X to go to the
maximum resolution of 1024x768. It also doesn't use the full screen in
console mode. I was using Mandriva 2008.1, but switched to hopefully get a
more stable system.
The chipset is a Trident 9337 with 2 mb of memory.
I t
and have things totally wrong. In fact,
I would say that is likely considering the results. I appreciate any help
you can provide.

about memory issues. I'm beginning to wonder if I need to update the BIOS or
maybe dmidecode is wrong about this system. It hasn't been wrong on other
systems I used it with, but this could be a quirk of the IBM system.

Another thought, I'm using the default kernel that comes with Debian. Would
I have better success with a custom compiled one that is for the Pentium
chip in the system?

Not on this system. It has a discrete video system builtin that has it's own
memory.

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to plug my laptop into the network
and sync my files to the network so that I always have a backed up copy of
my home partition? I honestly don't know how easily accomplished this would
be.

e put back into
service. I would think the USB drive should be less expensive anyway and I
don't have to worry about how do I transfer the data once I do read it. I
haven't looked at the system in years, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't even
have a nic in it.
