Has anyone gotten this too work? I downloaded the source packages.
Configured my kernel, compiled with make-kpkg, compiled the modules w/
make-kpkg. I got the unresolved symbols errors. PCMCIA doesn't work.
Tried again w/ Configure script pointed to earlier on this list, it
fails doesn't even

I'm using it just because it's the version in Potato. Haven't checked Woody,
yet. Since I'm about to upgrade to kernel 2.2.16, I may upgrade the pcmcia as
well.

I had been running a 3com ethernet card on a slink w/ some potato install on a
Dell Xpi P133 ST. I had borrowed the card from a friend, so I bought a card
for myself, a Linksys EC2T. The card seems to be recognized just fine by,
ifconfig shows it has an ip and the other needed configuration.

Are you able to press ctrl-alt-F2 to get to another virtual console? If
so, once there login and edit /etc/inittab. If you don't know about
this file read man pages on init, inittab and perhaps telinit.
If you can't get to a virtual terminal, then as your system boots at the
lilo prompt type "li

I just downloaded the new Potato disk images yesterday. They are dated
05/05/2000. Has anyone used them? I'll go on and make disks and
reinstall my laptop today and let you all know how it goes. However, if
someone can spare me the trouble please do so. Has the problem been
posted to the boot-
I have used the 5/5/2000 base install disks on my Dell laptop and they
work fine except that dhcp didn't work. I had to specify ( read steal
from another machine ) a static ip and then I was able to install potato
via ftp. It went well thereafter except some mirrors were incomplete,
causing me to

that the card manager software could not always auto detect it properly.

Can someone point me to a good tutorial or howto about Debian's methods
of booting and starting networking?I reinstalled Potato on my
laptop. During the install I couldn't dhcp, so I had to borrow and set
a static IP. I want to be certain that the machine is now doing dhcp,
plus it would be g
Well, I guess my problem is that I haven't been working w/ my laptop andDebian
enough. I was looking every where for the network startup scripts and finally
remembered that they are in /etc/pcmcia. I was looking in all the "desktop"
locations. I wonder how many times I'll have to do this befo
Okay, I installed potato on my old Dell XPi 133ST laptop.
Everything seems to be fine now, except the mouse in X. In
the /dev directory /dev/mouse is linked to gpmdata. I
assume this was done by the gpm install. With this setting
the builtin optical trackball sorta' works on the console.
However

I have a Dell Latitude XPi 133 ST running potato w/ kernel 2.2.15, default
not recompiled. Before installing I recreated the suspend partion. The
keyboard includes a function to suspend, which seems to work. I haven't
tested it thoroughly, but was wondering if the default kernel in potato

This may be a stupid question but where is the kernel-source-2.2.15
package? I don't seem to find it on the debian ftp server.
