I'm trying to bring Debian up on a Vaio A417M. I've got the etch base
installed from a d-i daily, with help from debian-boot (bug #319486).
I'm now trying to get X up.
The video hardware is a ATI Mobility Radeon X600. lspci:

Here is the breakdown, yes I am using 2.2 idepci kernel on my laptop.
However when I do the apt-get command, it claims that the newer kernel
image is not been found. Not sure what to do next. Perhaps at this

Well, I don't know about the 600m, but I JUST managed to get i8k to
work on my Inspiron 8100 by using the i8k=force that Christian
suggested (along with an 'update-modules' and a reboot). It was
extremely unreliable before that (I had it work ONCE in all my
fiddling).
