Hi,
I just installed my first debian on IBM X31 notebook. Loading kernel takes
too much time. After I choose kernel in lilo menu, there is text 'Loading
kernel' and a dots are showing after him. It takes about 1 minute and than
kernel booted. Has anyone experienced the same behavior?
Thanks,
kyb

I found that using Grub instead of Lilo fixed this for me. For

To UNSU
LILO using the compact setting is also "instant", but compact is not
on by default in LILO.

Recent upgrade to Debian Sarge on a Thinkpad T23, with kernel 2.6.8,
home-brewed. I had initially intended to use ACPI, but I couldn't get it
working and since APM works flawlessly on this machine, I thought I would
stick with it.
But the laptop will not sleep with the AC plugged in. Now I've go

I'm using rsync for this. My desktop is a rsync-server and my laptop

Hello,
I'm running a HD-install of Knoppix 3.6 on a pretty old Laptop (a
Siemens 266MHz Machine), and try to get WLAN running with a Corega
PCCL-11 (Prism 3.0 chipset) PCMCIA-Card.
I want to connect to the net via my netgear fm314p router, which is
running fine (and can be accessed from WinXP
