I don't really know about your nic..Is an integrated one? Which kernel
are you running?
But the sound should work if you add your normal user to /etc/group .

Please try to eject and insert your network card a few times, and see if
`dmesg' reports the some sort of hotplug event. If that is the case, your
pcmcia daemon is running.

management to work. The thinkpad has the latest bios rev from IBM's
website and just for kicks I installed mepis and saw that ACPI seemed
to work flawlessly while APM produced lots of lost interrupt handlers
