my inittab does not list the ttys in runlevel 5 - but they are available.
relevant section :
1:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty1
2:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty2
3:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty3
4:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty4
5:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty5
6:23:respawn:/sbin/get
this may not be the right list for my problem,
but maybe someone is willing to help :
though i can listen to mp3s and sound works in general under
X11 (KDE, up-to-date version of debian sarge), it does NOT work when i run
apllications like quake3 or RTCW from X11.
i know there is a setting in KDE
have you found better drivers for the ati radeon
345m yet? its also known as the radeon 7000 chipset so that might help, but
im looking for better drivers too, cause im into gaming and its

Thanx everybody for your help, sorry for the late post. I'll try to
upgrade to newer version. Btw, if I want to upgrade to Sarge using
apt-get, will the kernel also get updated? Or I must compile the newer
kernel myself?
And... I still have problem to connect to internet from my office
