Portege 3440ct multimedia prot replicator

Hi all, I'm running debian unstable and have been for about 6 months now. Does anyone else have a portege 3440ct and a port replicator who has been able to get it to work fully. I can use the built in ethernet if the replicator is plugged in beforethe laptop is booted but when it is plugged in

I'm still fighting with my transition from kernel 2.2.20 to 2.4.24 (Debian 3.0R1). When I type 'reboot' (alias for 'shutdown -r now') on the console, the laptop (Dell Insprion 7500) properly shutdowns. But instead to reboot, it powers off. In the kernel 2.4.24 I enabled ACPI, APM and Power-Manage
