Hello,
I had to change in the BIOS of my Acer TravelMate 280 the memory assigned to
the graphics adapter to 8 MB, default was 1 MB. After that the high color
resolutions started working.
Cheers,

i have an asus l3c with radeon 7500 and i just installed debian
from knoppix and it works really well with 3D.
but the radeon driver from the 2.4.21 doesn't work well. You have
to download the source of xlibmesa4 and compile its modules.
Then all works great.

I tried aty128 but it seems that no fb is recognised. same for radeon

Hi group,
Thank you all for your reactions. Summary: 7000 (Joris thinks he has
one) works great, 7500 works fine and the 9000 works smoothly. Some need

Debian laptop users of the world,
I was wondering if anyone else with a T40 is using a working 2.6.0-test3
kernel. I can make a kernel that will boot and start gdm but I have no
mouse support. I've tried a few .config files I found on the internet
for earlier versions, but no luck.

The compilation fails, but I don't know if this is because of gcc or the

Thanks,
Restarting the /etc/init.d/hotplug
didn't seem to work, so I'll try this next...

Hello,
Did anybody try to compile such a kernel for this laptop model ?
I am going nuts trying to find out what option to activate, what not

I would be interested in having a .config for my model, anybody ?
Another question; is ACPI support in this kernel enough to use it in

Hello,
I have a problem when activating FB for my current laptop (Inspiron
4100).
My video card is a Geforce 2 GO, the FB is pretty well working except
one thing: when reaching the bottom of the screen, I can't see what I
type. The line is there but is 'cropped' at the bottom. For instance

My Thinkpad R32 (just installed testing) loads X just fine after booting,
but if I exit and then later type "startx" it fails.
My XF86Config-4 is included below.
I diff'd a log file from a successful start (calling it 'xdm log')
with one generated right after shutting down X and running

I've recently upgraded to "unstable" (silly me, perhaps).
I don't know if it's related or not, but my XIG AccelleratedX driver
has stopped working. So I wanted to give the XFree 86 4.3 drivers another
try. (I've recovered my system with the 4.2 driver
