Hi: Seems like your TV's scart imput has no s-video entrance. I had the same problem with my TV. One possible solution is to buy an S-video to RCA cable and plug it to the RCA input on the TV (if it has one), or to an RCA to scart adaptor (which is what I use). Regards Pedro - Original Mess

Acer Aspire's 24x CDRW only writing 8x

Hi laptopers, I use Debian testing happily on an Acer Aspire 1300. It comes with a "QSI CD-RW/DVD-ROM SBW-241" capable of 24x writing. I can burn CDs (via ide-scsi emulation), but can't burn faster than 8x. I use cdrecord -speed=24, but the actual speed is always around 8. Any ideas about why is

Hi, I've installed and used the pcmcia-cs package on debian. When i plug a 3com 3c589c pcmcia NIC in, then the card is detected and started, but to get it to appear as eth0 in "ifconfig", i need to do /etc/init.d/networking restart. Is there a standard way of making this happen automatically?
