do the acpi patches from sourceforge work with kernel-source packages
from debian, or is it necessary to use kernel sources from kernel.org?

The kernel sources from Debian should be vanilla kernel.org sources, so
the acpi patches shou
I got the similar problem with my old DVD/CD-ROM for Compaq Armada M700
(drive model DRN-8040B). Just like yours, it could only read DVDs with
movies (i.e. no data DVDs, no data/audio CDs). In my case it was drive's
fault rather than OS's (under win2000 I got the same).
I had to order a new dr
oh well.. i can read any kind of dvd's though.. i think this is
extremely odd.. better go order a new drive then =(

I wasn't ever able to figure out why the 2.4.12 kernel wasn't happy. I ended
up downloading 2.4.20, which works fine.

audio controller an intel ac'97. i had sound working well and good
with redhat just by inserting this module. but on woody, i seem to be
missing sound. so i did almost everything i saw flying around in that
