compaq evo n160 with port replicator

hallo i have a my notebook at a port replicator, the original from compaq. i want to use a usb-mouse over ps2-adapter at the port replicator. my problem is that if i put a mouse on the ps2-connctor it doesn't work. the touchpad work also as a ps2 mouse. i use woody with kernel 2.4.18(self compile
