OK.. with much trial and error, I think I got my PC to detect my PCMCIA modem.. it "beeps" anyway when I insert and remove the modem, which is more than the "device busy" I got before. However, now as soon as it first detects the modem, it gives me the following: Usage: /sbin/getty [-hiLmw] [-l l

Hello, I'm doing an installation from the potato floppy boot disk set dated July 5, 2000. Kernel and modules are installed; plip is configured and I can ping hosts on the Internet by name from VC2. Over on VC1, the installation scripts are running, and I'm at the stage "Install the Base System".
