Yep, the Tecra disks solved the problem and the installation went through

Maybe there's an easier way, but here's how I had to install on my
tecra8000:
use tecra boot disk
create filesystem.
mount filesystem.
copy the base and tecra image to the mounted filesystem (CTRL-F2 to get a
shell from the install menu---i just copied them to home)
rename from zImage-tecra (or wh
