I'm trying to install potato on my new Dell. Not having a CD, I'm
trying to use the ftp method and am keeping the bootstrap packages on
a 'Dows partition. I've been running slink on an HP laptop for over a
year, but this is my first experience with potato -- which I think I
need because my xircom

First, a bit more information. The error message I'm getting from the
installer is that it can't find /lib/modules/2.2.13. And sure enough,
if I fire up a second VC and look there's no directory by that name.
There *is* a /target/lib/modules/2.2.13, and I managed to make a bit
more progress by cr

Hello,
I goofed when I was installing Debian by saying that my hardware clock was set
to GMT instead of my local time zone. How can I fix that? I want to leave
the hardware clock set to the local time zone because I have Windows installed
too.
Thanks,
Mark

Hello,
Thanks for all the help. For the moment, I have linked
/etc/resolv.conf to /etc/dhcpcd/resolv.conf. It is a kludgy situation
and I will probably look into other dhcp client packages, but for now
it works.

I know I've seen you on here before, so I'll assume you have some good idea
what you're doing.
You should be able to get the card workign during the drivers config/just
after the drivers install. The important thing at this point is to make sure
you've applied the PCMCIA support (which come

Actually, it's my problem. I hope the assumption still holds. :-)

Hi,
I'm struggling with slink and the d-link DE-660 network-adapter.
The d-link DE-660 is a 16-bit card (according to cardctl status)
I installed slink from Cd. And installed the debian kernel 2.0.36 and
the pcmcia-modules for 2.0.36 and pcmcia-cs. Everything worked fine.

Phew. Sounds crazy.
Try rsync to move the .o modules, using rsync -avz, which will preserve
permissions and all that.
I assume you have checked to make sure that the xircom card is supported, by
model #, on linuxdoc.org? You don't have the model# here, or I'd go check it
for you.
I wonder if it'

I've been having a similar problem with my PCMCIA card. According
to various pages on the web, the solution is to use the latest release of
the PCMCIA stuff. I solved my problem by just plugging my Dell into
its docking station and installing the eth0 device, using the "vortex"
driver. Everythin
