xscreensaver seems to hang xfee86 in Inspiron 5160 (using ACPI)

In Inspiron 5160 running Debian Sid, kernel 2.6.7 (smp and ACPI and APM compiled), I get these errors (apm is disabled in grub options with "noapm"). I believe xfree86 hangs when xscreensaver suspends the system (because if no user is logged into gdm and the login screen is there, it just blank

one to share his experience using acpi with kernel 2.6.(6) > and higher? I have an Asus M2400N and when I close the lid, the screen is turned off automatically. But I am not sure, who or what is responsible for that. IIRC it was the same with a 2.4.x kernel and APM (today it runs 2.6.7 w/ACPI).
