toshiba tecra 8000 pcmcia slots in docking station

I can see the slots with dmesg or the info app but have had no luck to get a network card seen there. I can put it in the laptops slots and it works fine. Just not in the dock. I have read about an option extra_slots but have not been able to find where to put it. Any hints?
