How about "pre-up ifdown wlan0" within the "eth0" stanza in
"/etc/network/interfaces"? Possibly "ifdown wlan0 || true", I
didn't test it.

an another idea is to use a bridge br0 which bridges eth0 and wlan0:
it works fine for me.
