Thanx for all your replies, if I'm summarizing it it seems that the
notebook is not the best I can get, but as I've checed it at mobilix.org

- video works without problems
- ethernet also
- modem using linmodem drivers ???
- sound card probably also using 2.3.x se

I can confirm that my Lucent WinModem works with ppp 2.4.0f-1 (from
Debian unstable) without any problems (the problem with "NO DIALTONE"
