That package is only in unstable. You could install gnome-applet
Hi guys... I just apt-get upgraded and, to my surprise, gnome came out
with an error message, saying that it found a problem loading OAFIID:
GNOME_BattstatApplet and GNOME_MixerApplet.
Right... I googled and found just nothing... then I went to etch's

I've added to the Gnome battstat applet the ability to calculate the
(estimate) remaining battery/charging time. When the system is running
on batteries or recharging them, the remaining time will be shown on the
applet's tooltip.
