I had a notebook with a Trident CyberBlade Graphics Board.
That worked fine with Xfree 4.x _except_ for xvideo acceleration.
(after little tweaking of the video modes)
That is: i couldn't watch DVDs on it.
I think Xfree 4.2 solved that problem.
The console worked fine both in text mode and in vesa
