Was the avahi line there before you removed the avahi daemon?
Yes, that´s why I removed the package with:
/apt-get remove avahi-daemon/

If its only content is like lo=lo , please try to add the two
following lines
eth0=eth0
wlan0=wlan0
then try to 'ifdown' and 'ifup' any interfaces
In the file was the following line missing so I edited it:
/wlan0=wla

yesterday I upgraded my Laptop, an IBM T520 with Jessie installed.
It´s now running on 3.16.04. After the reboot the Wi-fi and Ethernet
connection were gone, and I can`t connect to anything. I don`t know
where to search or look to find out what`s wrong.
Do you have any ideas?

Hi,
the T520 has a switch to turn the wifi off and on. That work`s fine. If
I switch it of it shows me the the airplane mode.
rfkill may help in this situation

You have to install firmware-realtek, firmware-iwlwifi,
firmware-linux-free and then you will get connection to the ethernet.
