Yes it is, just don't load up processor.ko once you have compiled in ACPI. ACPI on the r40e will give you the ability to view battery life and if you compile in cpufreq support you can also use powernowd to cycle the processor power usage and save your battery life. My processor is running at 250

Hi there, Quite simply there are R40's that do support APM. However, the R40e is not one of them. So, the short answer is that you cannot use APM with any kernel on an R40e. You must use ACPI, and there are problems with the processor.o and thermal.o modules on that machine as well. Sorry Pete
