Imho you should try an Apple iBook or PowerBook. They have good displays, leight weight and are well supported. the components are good (ati radeon mobility, geforce 4 go, 100mbit lan, airport extreme, firewire, cdrw / dvd rw). but the PowerBooks are a bit expensive. Min. resolution is 1024x768

Florian, While not to stray from your specifications too much, Sony Vaios are VERY well supported from what I have seen personally (proud owner), and other friends. I don't believe they have a laptop that does over 1280x1024 resolution, but they are great machines (alittle heavy on battery usag
