Hi,
I recently installed Debian 2.2r0 "Potato" on my Toshiba Tecra 8100.
Various patches were necessary to get all the hardware working.
The install notes are on http://eric.ath.cx/tecra/index.html
If you have more info, patches, etc. let me know, I'll be happy to include
them.

They instructions claim to be for RedHat, but they were easy to adapt
for Debian.

I have an 8100 too, and have the same problem (either with the cdrom or the
dvdrom).
Some cds seem to work, others don't - I must admit I've not looked into it -
I just shrugged and created some floppies :-)

but not the Debian 2.2r0. I've tested two sets and I got the same result. I
thougt the CDs were badly written but now I think it could be a(nother)
problem with Toshiba.
