Well,
after several hours of debugging/testing/experimenting I found what HP
could not tell straightforward. To enable the scancodes for the extra
keys one should write 0x59 to port 0x64 (kbd command register) and then
0x90 to port 0x60 (kbd command parameter register). For those who are
curious

i think it's interesting for the people out there having a HP OB XE3 or
similar. A short time ago, i had problems with random crashes on my XE3. I
tried several kernel-options turned APM on/off... etc...

How big is the hibernate partition? On some of the OmniBooks,
I've seen a very, very small hibernate partition (it needs to
be the same size as your RAM plus ~10-15MB). What I've seen
in some of those cases is that neither suspend nor hibernate
will work; I'm not sure I know why this happens (I
Have you checking www.linux-laptop.net?
There were several entries for OmniBooks, at least one of this
had a discussion of APM:

Does that help at all?
