I bought laptop Dell d820.
Overall, problems are none other than nvidia and suspend. I install default
etch kernel: linux-image-2.6.18-4-686 and nvidia-kernel-2.6.18-4-686
(pre-compiled and try nvidia-kernel-sources from experimental). Any modules
lead to buzz after try suspend to disk (from
This happened to me this last week also. I did not find a fix that would
work. I did not have enough time to really look. I made it work with
the VESA driver so that I could get the machine usable again. Let me
know anything you find.

Try the installation from the command line without X running.
kill X
remove the old nvidia module
install the new one
start X

Hi, when installing the latest (6629) nVidia driver on Sarge, with a
2.6.8-2-686 kernel, X seems to halt the entire system, turning off the
monitor, while the system remains turned on, it is inoperable and a forced
shutdown is needed to reboot. Any advice on getting X to work with the

Yes, thay caused me run over my video card with my car. Needles to say it was
not made by
