hardware. ASUS A6Q00KM doesn't say much to me, and I don't have the
time and desire to look it up now.

I helped someone install debian on a D600. We used an unofficial netinstall
iso that included the tg3.o module for the gigabit ethernet. I don't have the
link sorry, you will need to google for it.
