I have installed GNU/Linux on a Toshiba Libretto, also
800 MB HD, but I preferd to install this HD into an PC.
Another idea would be to link your Laptop with an other
PC with a nullmodem cable (serial) or a laplink cable

just did my first Debian in stall on a Toshiba 486 -33
T4700CT Laptop. It has a 800 Meg HD 24 Megs Ram.. No
CD.. No NIC/Modem Just a floppy and HD.. thats it.
