at jdaues: on the Gigabyte system, everything worked fine using the
proprietary driver from nvidia.com. I first had to install
linux-source-2.6.x (there's only one package fiting this scheme
available), linux-headers-, pkg-config, x-dev. The

modconf shows:
kernel/drivers/video/nvidia
so i tried that, but no joy.
I've now tried vesa, nv, and nvidia with no effect.
I then tried:
apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-nv
but no effect
Then, in modconf, i saw this:
kernel/drivers/video/nvidia
so I selected in for install.
This had an effec
if I do:
>lsmod | grep nvidia
I get nothing in response.
That can't be good.
