I'm still stuck on MacOS-9.2, but I neither have any problems in
playing DVDs (and my processor is only running at 400 MHz, which is
nearly the half of yours ;-).

I got a Psion Gold Card Netglobal 56K+10/100Mb cardbus card and try to
run it an an ACER Travelmate 212 TX.
The kernel is capcable of pcmcia-cards. It is even capable of this
card, but I didn't manage to configure this card automatically :-( I
tried instead a different PCMCI

I owe an Powerbook (so called Pismo edition). I offers an 10/100 MBit
(autosensing) internal ethernet NIC. I'm running both Debian and
MacOS but most of the time Debian.
Everything worked fine for a long time and I didn't change anything in
the software / hardware configuration.
went well, but I still have problems in using all
functionallity like ACPI and the internal modem :-( I would not
recommend those laptop.
