llega, luego reinicio y vuelve a lo mismo.
Les agradeceria alguna sugerencia para evitar que el FSCK revise el disco
desde el grup, editando alguna linea antes de iniciar el kernel...

Gracias a todos de antemano, no hay que olvidar que el Padre de Ubuntu es
Debian... (asi que creo que estamos en la misma linea, supongo) por mi parte
no soy radical con una sola distro.

I have tried that. His problem was that ALSA would not start. My issue
seems to be that it is running but for some reason my system believes
that /dev/dsp is inaccessible and that I have no sound device installed
at all, Alsaconf completes but displays :
/usr/sbin/alsactl: load_state:1236: N
I am runnung debian sarge on a really old HP OmniBook 4150.
soundcard is NeoMagic 256
lsmod yields:

package and a modeline which I somehow discovered using some voodoo and

Working on getting my laptop previously running Slink updated to Woody.
I was really having a tough time of this upgrade, any 2.2+ kernel from
debian either crashed or corrupted the filesystem. The inability to
install modultils kept making apt-get dist-upgrade fail.

Ah, poking around debian.org, I see that tasksel *should* have presented
an X package right at the top of the screen. It didn't. I'll try a
reinstall with the full floppy set.

Hi all. I am running the latest potato on a Compaq LTE Elite 4/75CX. I'm
attempting to get 15bpp to work in X - to no avail. The chipset is a
WD90C24 I believe, one of the supported ones. There is 1024k of video RAM.
When attempting to start in 15bpp mode, the X server (SVGA) quits,
claiming that
