My paper[1] on getting the Treo 650 to talk to my ThinkPad T40 running
Debian GNU/Linux (etch) might point you in the right direction.

5. Touchpad not working
The fix was to remove the line
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
in Section "InputDevice", Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad" since the
driver finds the device on its own (with Protocol "auto-dev").

you try 7.0.7 from experimental? I heard
that there was a fix in 7.0.3 which fixed the ATI problems but haven't
gotten confirmation.

use /dev/cdrom regardless of the actual CD-ROM, or /dev/console

The stop-networks script came from a non-root user script. Running
sudo as root is harmless but unnecessary.

If you're p
ngly, with the Touchpad
on, the middle mouse button didn't work but started working as soon as
the Touchpad was turned off in the BIOS.
I've since upgraded my BIOS and I'd imagine the Synaptics driver has
gotten better. With the help here, Maybe I should take another shot at it.
