redirect the actual temporary directory to another
directory ? I mean tell the system to use another temporary directory -
not the /tmp ?
tempnam(3) and other programs uses the TMPDIR environment variable.
But some functions/programs don't use it.

If you don't read French, apparently this problem is worked on in the
latest CVS of Alsa, to support your Realtek ALC260
I cannot help more, not having this chipset.

then google for Linux + the relevant output line for your sound chip.
Maybe also the volume is set to 0, try installing aumix and run it to
increase the volume.
