Is there any way to just upgrade the x11 packages to
x.org ? Is it safe and advisable ?

My distribution is
Debian/Sarge with wpa_supplicant version 0.54.
I have run out of ideas, on how to make my wireless system
self configure the network. I would be greatful for your
suggestions. It used to work perfectly but stopped after kernel and
ipw3945 upgrade, without change in config.

have Software Suspend 2 support.
I can zcat /proc/config.gz to check that all the CONFIG_SUSPEND2*
options are set. What am I missing ?
Also I have set CONFIG_SUSPEND2_DEFAULT_RESUME2="swap:/dev/sda2",
but cat /sys/power/state says "mem". Shouldn't this be "disk
if I muck around after booting by reloading the driver
module or/and restarting wpa_supplicant the wireless does get
configured, even though I can confirm that at boot time the driver does
get loaded and wpa_supplicant does get started.

because the
first thing I did after I got the laptop was to delete WindowsXP. And
I am pretty sure the first thing they will tell me when I report my
problem is that they don't support linux (essentially blaming the
problem on linux).

I think problem may be more to do with the yv12 overlays. But I
find it surprising that this should not be supported by the
fglrx-driver or the VESA driver. I am not sure how I can
confirm this or find a workaround.

with aticonfig --initial and even tried aticonfig --ovt Xvideo
after that. xine-check reports that my video card does not
support "yv12 overlays" and hence DVD playing will be very
CPU intensive .
Any suggestions ?

being a single line containing ipw3945. Also it is better to
start wpa_supplicant very late in the boot process after ifplugd (this
is contrary to the suggestion in the wpa_supplicant documentation ).
Thanks again.

Hi,
The wait options -w is in /etc/init.d/wparoamd. This file is almost
the same as the example file supplied with wpasupplicant, with the
exception of local configuration mentioned in a previous mail.

I guess I can always link the above commands to S99local but would
really like to understand and fix this if possible.
Also my /etc/modules file is empty so that can't be the cause of ipw3945
being loaded during boot.

offer, on such unsupported cards ? How does one
do this ?
I have read the docs, which don't say much about unsupported
cards though they indicate that it is possible to use them
if one provides informations about Clock Chip and such !!

this stage, so that I can get a minimal system to compile

Would it be possible to get a pure stable distribution installed
using the etch installer ?
