Hi all. I don't know if this is a kernel thing or a laptop thing but i figuerd
i would try here. I've been a debian user for about 8 months now, and i've
always used the pre-built kernels from unstable. Well, i've been messing with
the idea of hibernation on my laptop. I read up on the mail list

ere you able to determine easily what the best
settings for LeftEdge and RightEdge would be? That's probably key
here.
One thing the README file's XF86Config-4 example includes that yours
does not is options for "PalmDetect", which I'm guessing is a big part
of the problem I'm trying to resolve. These are the options:
Option"PalmDetect"Bool
Option"PalmMinWidth"int
Option"PalmMinZ" int
I'm not sure what values to give for PalmMinWidth and PalmMinZ. It'll
probably just take some guesswork and trial and error revisions.

eed, MaxSpeed, AccelFactor you mention were not included
during the debian sarge install. Nor was the synaptics driver. I'll
look into these today.
It was the synaptics touchpad driver you were talking about:
http://www.synaptics.com/support/drive.cfm
not the package management system:
http://www.nongnu.org/synaptic/
... right??

I tried turning off the tapmode like this:
root# tpconfig -t 0
but this didn't help matters.
Hopefully installing the synaptics driver will help.
Andy
It's almost like I need to just turn the touchpad off
completely while I'm typing text.
Has anybody else had this problem, and found a way to deal with it?
If so, please let me know. If this isn't fixable, it would count as
one good reason to get a Thinkpad.
Thanks for any help or info!

There's a pretty good chance that the chip is soldered onto the
motherboard. Have you opened up the laptop to check if the video

prism2_cs.

underneath your left palm and gets _very_ hot after several hours of
usage. For the third d
I have a laptop with a DWL-650 and desktop PC with a DWL-500. The
DWL-650 works well enough, but the DWL-500 is a bit flaky. The PCMCIA
bridge they use wouldn't work for me without setting PCIC_OPTS to
