Just from my personal experience, price will be a little bit more important, I get my 800c second hand for $750 6 months ago... it was super low and everything work, with 3 times higher price I can get a little better laptop with a little more speed. but for sure not 3 times and with che

Along the same line I'm using LATITUDE 800c, great laptop, 1400x1200, wireless, ethernet, irda, sound, cdrw, dvd, ( acpi still not working right but sleep work ) I will get the newer version that support up the 1GB of memory. My only up to 512, but I can still run Netbeans ( memory hog ) oracle
