ok, NEWS.Debian.gz:
The hotplug package has been disabled and should be manually purged.
This makes the following configuration files obsolete:
+ /etc/hotplug/*.rc and *.agent: the old hotplug files are not used
anymore. udev rules may be used to selectively disable coldplugging
Tzafir,
I got some laptops here for doing installation
s, which were too hot
all the time with permanently running fan. (Yes, under Windows.)
I think that's happening when they throw a highspeed CPU (and maybe
not even mobile ones) into a machine that originally wasn't designed
for the hottie.

Debian has this cool package manager that is called 'apt'. There are
many detailed docs on how to use it on the internet so I won't get into
that here. The package manager apt will resolve dependencies for you and
many other neat tricks.

Have you tried getting/using the 915resolution package? It sounds to me

Check out the package 915resolution. I have a Dell Inspiron B130, and
was able to use 915resolution to set the display to 1280x800. My
/etc/default/915resolution file can be posted if you like, but the
setup and config is pretty straightforward.

Hi,
I can't get the resolution of my laptop up ok. It's got an Intel card
and is supposed to work with the i810 driver (that's not autodetected).
The X-server runs on the vesa driver, but the image is stretched. It
appears it uses a 4:3 resolution that is stretched to the 16:9 display
of the lapt
