I believe this has something to do with your apm bios, if I am correct there is
an option available when configuring the 2.3 series kernel to fix it

If you figure that out, please let me know what you did. I've be
The Tecra 8100 has one of those damn winmodems in it (and the
Lucent driver is for the 2.2.12 kernel) so I just went out and
bought a multifunction card.
I got a "Lynksys Etherfast 10/100+56K Modem PC Card (PCMLM56)".
It was the only thing in the store that was also on the

I've had similar problems with a xircom cardbus (32-bit) network card.
I use dhclient from the dhcp-client package to get all the network
info. The card configures itself with dhcp, but doesn't seem to work
with other network traffic until it sees outgoing traffic while in

I guess you pointed /etc/apt/sources.list to an unstable (woody)

Hi all,
I'm trying to do an install of potato using a xircom pcmcia network card
and my HP 800CT. I switched to the older install disks ( thanks Charlie
) after experiencing the pcmcia problems noted on this list.
Now the install works and grabs the base system using ftp. At this point
