Hi Werner, I've made a lot of progress. I reinstalled from scratch and found a warning about Cirrus PCMCIA cards in the PCMCIA card setup. Said to set them to "fast_pci." I did and now at least cardmgr works. It gives a high "bip" when card is pulled out and a low "pup" when I reinsert. cardmg

Hi, Not sure if I should be posting this question on this list, laptop, or the user list, but here goes. I just installed Debian on my HP3000 laptop. It uses the Neomagic video chipset. After the config of X11, all looks good except the cursor pointer is a large square image of vertical bars.

Hello, kernel available at the time) which worked fine. 2.0.x does not work well with Thinkpads. FYI - I use the 2.0.36 kernel with an IBM Thinkpad 560. I'm not sure why the above comment about 2.0.x was posted. I'm curious though, perhaps the 560 is exempt from any incompatility problems.
