(This bug *might* be a duplicate of #446744)
Ever since etch was upgraded to linux-image-2.6.18-5, my system has been
unable to boot. It kernel panics on boot, but not during the mount of
the root file system. I'm unable to work
Here is a partial record of the crash on 2.6.18-5-amd64 with
all-generic-ide and irqpoll removed from the command line:

that busybox has moved from 'Depends' to 'Recommends' (and that the bug
itself has moved from 'critical' to 'wishlist'). I am not sure of all
of the consequences of this, although it appears from the changel
