The BCM5722 firmware is all in flash, not loaded from disk. (The description of firmware-linux-nonfree lists all the chips that it provides firmware for.) Therefore, you have not found a bug in firmware-linux-nonfree, but in the tg3 driver or firmware in flash. Also, any problems with a driver p
