Nico earlier visited OFTC #debian about this issue.
The problem appears similar to #432042. Firmware isn't being
transferred to the initrd via update-initramfs upon package
installation. As the firmware isn't available in the initramfs image,
it can't be loaded by the bnx2 module during boo

BNX2 fails to load the firmware on bootup.
If I rmmod bnx2 and modprobe bnx2 after bootup, the nics appear.
