since some version of kernel I need to remove mei_me module.
This module is loaded at boot time and spam the dmesg with
mei_me :00:03.0: reset: connect/disconnect timeout.

my pc got 2 ide controller (via82cxxx and siimage).
via82cxxx should be probed first in order that /dev/hdb3 is my root fs.
But sometimes siimage is probed first and my rootfs got /dev/hdf3, and
boot hangs.

I got a v4l1 application that worked for years.
With the current kernel, it hangs in a state where VIDIOCMCAPTURE always
return -EBUSY.
After some debug, it seems that VIDIOCMCAPTURE fails the first time
because of videobuf

in 2.6.25 the mixer doesn't work anymore. If I mute the Master or PCM
control nothing happen.
I can only control the level of sound via "Wave Surround" control.
I worked fine with older kernel 2.6.23 or 2.6.24.

Hi,
udev cause some serious problems on some configuration and make the
system unstable.
I believe the default behaviour should be to use yaird and let's the
user switch to udev with initramfs-tools only if it wants.
