For what it's worth, I have a new(ish) machine that is running the stock
kernel 2.6.24 in testing and cannot manage its clock without the
--directisa workaround (complains about /dev/rtc problems).

Hi,
Frantically download 2.6.22-4 which rolled into testing in the past
couple of days to hope this is fixed and it's still producing the same
error.
I'm stuck on 2.6.18 and uber-gutted :(

I noticed that by default that the AC97 power saving mode is off by
default. Would it be possible to consider compiling the stock kernel
with the power saving mode on?

I no longer use klaptopdaemon anymore I use KPowersave.
Recently KPowersave has changed from relying on powersaved to HAL and I
have noticed no more issues since.
I recommend that this bug be closed.
