introduced for him in v2.6.30-rc1 (more precisely: ALSA: hda - Use
digital beep for AD codecs, 2009-02-06). I suspect it may have been
fixed on at least some systems by v2.6.35-rc1~478^2~1^2~24^2~3 (ALSA:
hda-intel - AD1984 thinkpad -
Similarly for me, the workaround also works.

There is no available kernel-image-2.4.27 for amd64.
Release notes clearly states:
For the AMD64 architecture only a 2.6 kernel is available with kernel
version 2.6.8. Note that Debian's 2.6.8 kernel packages include the
2.6.8.1 kernel release and selected other patches.
