I forgot to attach the test program from Gerlof. I attach it now.

Hi!
I bzr diff on /boot/grub/grub.cfg revealed – but already from last week as I
upgraded to the newer backport initramfs-tools, where booting still worked

Today I installed backports version of open-vm-dkms and upgraded to most
recent 3.14 backport kernel from a previous version of it I installed due
to using BTRFS with skinny meta data on one partition.

Sorry, this was not what I intended by reassigning. I can try to undo it and
fix it up by reassign to btrfs-tools, using found / notfound and so on if you
want.

Hello,
I can reproduce this bug with an IBM ThinkPad T23 and an IBM ThinkPad R51.
I am using kernel-image-2.6.10-1-686, version 2.6.10-4.
Kernel 2.6.9 didn't work at all on my IBM ThinkPad T23 (similar bug as I
reported for 2.6.8 in bug #282905). Didn't test on the IBM ThinkPad R51

this works okay with

It still doesn't work with:
kernel-image-2.6.9-1-686, version 2.6.9-3
but that should become a new bug report if I find time, before 2.6.10 is
out for Debian.

now I tried it with kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686 (version 2.6.8-4) and this

was successful.
So it seems that this bug was fixed with version 2.6.8-4.
