You can use the kernel command line "earlyprintk=efi,keep". This way
the kernel will print messages to see what's going on (and maybe a
traceback in case of crash

The QWORD at address 0xaa948720 is 0 though on the running system.
I will try to investigate more but I'm open to any printk / patch tests.
