Bug#843061: radeon/hawaii_k_smc.bin fails to load with 4.8 kernel

I also have this problem, but with an AMD Radeon R9 270X (Curacao XT, which is a Pitcairn refresh). It also happens with any of the 4.9 kernels from experimental, and doesn‘t happen on the newest 4.7. I can still ssh on the affected PC. My journalctl shows me the following messages: Nov 18 16
