Hello Alan,
Thank you:
The patch appears to work for me, too.
Applied on top of Debian kernel "4.4-1~exp1" I finally have a kernel boot again!
(And maybe this will also make the Intel ( i7-2677M IGP) video bugs
disappear...)
Best regards,
Erich

This is actually useful, because it shows that the issue occurs even with
Xen 4.6, which I think rules out a Xen side issue (otherwise we'd have had
lots more reports from 4.4 through to 4.6) and points to a kernel side
issue somewhere.
But I checked logs more thoroughly and found it even on mor

Dear Maintainer,
This kernel version makes iscsi connection to Dell MD3200i unusable. Kernel
3.16 works OK.
Steps leading to error:
1. Logging into iSCSI target - OK!
2. Configuring multipath and starting - OK!
3. pvcreate - OK!
4. vg

I didn't find this command to report bug in wiki [0][1
looks like this is in fact somehow related to laptop-mode-tools / r8169
misbehaves if shut down.
In the end it is enough to shut down the interface via:
ip link set dev eth0 down
to produce the errors messages:
[90830.764253] r8169 :02:00.0 eth0: rtl_counters_cond == 1 (loop: 1000,
delay: 10)

Dear Maintainer,
after suspend to ram there are lots of error messages from the r8169
module and there are some strange side-effects (multiload_applet
produces 100% cpu load trying to read network interface statistics ...)
as workaround
