While using alsaplayer to play a audio dvd (it was paused at the time)
it became unresponsive and was in an uninterruptible disk sleep, so

I'm experiencing the same issue. With kernel versions 3.16 and 3.17,
everything was fine, with kernel 3.18 I have to use the internal
keyboard of my Thinkpad T440s, an external USB keyboard does not work
(it does work in Grub, though).
Switching back to old kernel versions resolves the problem.
